QMS Riders Start the School Season
September 30th, 2013 ‐ Duncan, BC, Canada – It may have been a soggy start to the season, but the Queen
Margaret’s School Equestrian Team didn’t let the weather bring them down at the British Columbia Hunter
Jumper Association (BCHJA) Fall Finals at Thunderbird Show Park, Langley the weekend of September 21‐22.
Weather aside, the BCHJA Fall Finals is an incredibly challenging competition for riders of all levels to compete at.
“We enjoy taking team members to this show in Langley because of the great facilities, wonderful riders and team
atmosphere,” explains QMS Head Coach Cheryl Keith. “Their poise and professionalism were there each time they
entered the arena.”
Christine Coels (Grade 10) on QMS’ Clockwork continued her winning streak with a Championship win in 2’3” Short
Stirrup Hunter and Reserve Champion 2’6” Pre‐Children’s Equitation, while teammate Kassidy Keith rode Wallabee
to a Championship finish in the B Equitation division.
Grade 10 rider Catherine Rankin’s horse Go Shorty has been called “the little engine that could” and continues to
earn top marks in the Pacific Northwest. Not only did Rankin ride him to win Champion in 3’ Children’s Equitation
(14 & Under) and Reserve Champion in the 3’ Children’s Hunter (14 & Under), Cheryl Keith chose to compete with
him as well. Keith describes Go Shorty as an outstanding horse.
Keith won 3’3” Pre‐Green Champion on Go Shorty and stunned the audience in the BCHJA Canadian Hunter Derby
division by earning a score of 93, plus 20 bonus points for a total of 113. “This was the highest score we have seen
all year in the Canadian Hunter Derby series at Thunderbird,” says Jane Tidball, President Thunderbird Show Park.
“Go Shorty is a real favourite at Thunderbird. Congratulations!”
